Baltimore ska/reggae group Evokatones will cap off an evening of poetry, music and art to raise funds for the continued production of Culture & Main, according to the event’s Facebook page.
In order to secure funding for future episodes of the local culture and arts TV showcase run by York Poet Laureate Carla Christopher, the C&M crew is asking viewers and art lovers to come out and show their support beginning 6 p.m. Nov. 9 at New Grounds Roasting Co., 284 W. Market St., York.
A $5 donation is requested, with donations and proceeds from artists’ sales to benefit both C&M and Gimme Shelter, “an artist-run and artist-funded co-op that holds fundraising events then hosts pop-up soup kitchens for the homeless throughout Pa. and Md.,” according to the Facebook page.
Musician and poet Elijah Cross will host, and featured poets include Kenneth Vincent Walker, Stefan May, Melissa Carl and Beth Weaver-Kreider. A full lineup is available on the Facebook page.
